Granville School SMRT® Hybrid COLA Building

XXL SHEDS™ again uses its SMRT® hybrid portal frame technology to design and supply a COLA building for Granville State school to cover their sports courts.

Portal Frame Type: Patented SMRT® Hybrid Portal frame with UB Columns and part UB Rafter with Cold Form Rafters between UB Columns sections

Total Footprint: 1221 sqm

Building Details:
A 33m span x 37m long building with a 5m eave height and 6.1m bays spacing. Gable infills on both ends with a side skirt cladding of colorbond on one side and the other side a full height block wall.


A design and Construct tender was issued by the Queensland Education department to provide a suitable roof cover over the existing sports courts at Granville State School. XXL SHEDS™ partnered with a highly regarded local builder (Metcalf Construction) to completed the design engineering and supply whilst Metcalf Construction followed through with the build. 

The design utilised the patented SMRT® hybrid portal design developed by XXL SHEDS which provides significant savings compared with traditional design methods without compromising strength and durability.

The end result is fantastic building that is fit for purpose and a quality result for the school. The overall costs saved the school thousands of dollars compared with other tenders and achieved a result that exceeded their expectations.
